"Acting is the most minor of gifts and not a very high-class way to earn a living. After all, Shirley Temple could do it at the age of four."

1st Weekend Down

We made it. Tech week and 4 shows later, I am back to the normal schedule again until Friday night. Mel went back to school yesterday and I got to spend the morning with her, Mom, and the aunties before heading to WDL. Everyone was excited about the review and it seemed that the nerves were pretty much non-existant. A lot of people had family members so there was that motivation, but it was Sunday and the audience was quiet. And well, it was awkward. It started off with a lot of cheering and clapping, but as the show progressed it was like, "is anybody out there??" Spreading my legs in front of the 4 little old ladies in the front row was well, not very comfortable, and I ended the song to be welcomed by a chorus of crickets. AWK. But at intermission, several people including our director came back to the green room to tell us how much they loved the show. So I was like, "Well they could like clap or somethin." Just shows how some audiences are just more vocal than others and it doesn't mean anything. At the end they gave us a standing ovation.

I walked out to find Kallie and Mrs. Falandays! I used to babysit their family and they had come to see me. :) They loved the show and Kallie looked so grown up in her cute lil' coat. Jessi Taylor and Evan were also there, childhood friends of mine. B and I went to the new iHOP with them afterwards to catch up.

So we walk into iHOP and the hostess point to Brendan and goes, "RENT." And then she told us how her friend was visiting from China and she had to take her to something interesting in Delaware and decided to go see RENT and that she was friends with Christophe and Scott! So she recognized B right away! How crazy! And then when we sat down to eat, a little girl who looked about 3 came up to our table with her dad and goes, "I like your pwetty blue nailpolish. I think it's pwetty." And Dad goes, "she just wanted to tell you that." And my heart melted a little and I said," Thank you so much! I got it at Happy Harrys." :) All the while I couldn't wait to take the nailpolish off when I got home. I waited a little longer than usual to take it off last night. :) It's the little things.

So Thank you:
Mrs. F
Kallie
Jessi
Evan
