Lately, things have gotten pretty crazy and I haven't had time to sit and clear my head or come back down to earth. There have been some great things- getting engaged, Mel being home for spring break, Tita Mila feeling a lot better. Last weekend, a bunch of us performed in a benefit for the Chapel Street Theatre. It went well and as I sat in the dressing room trying not to be nervous, Courtney and I found a random camera and started taking ugly pictures of ourselves. And well, not sure why I do it b/c they always end up on facebook and I look at how trife I can really be. But at the time it's always fun. I got to wear my awesome $9 flapper-ish dress I found on clearance even though it was hella cold. I sat downstairs and wrapped myself in my penguin blanket from Tori. Every time I went backstage, I would come close to puking and thought, "Why the eff do I put myself through this stress and nervousness repeatedly?" Needless to say, I praised the Lord when I got through each song and had a glass of white wine at the end, which I drank way too fast, but we won't divulge the details of what happened after that.
Next week we begin rehearsals for the Fundraiser for Miracles. I'm so excited to get to see all these people that are performing in it. I felt bad having to say no to people and cutting out songs, but I had no idea so many people would want to be involved. People I am close to, people I have performed with, some kids I've watched grow up onstage...they are all going to be there.
One night this past week, B came over to rehearse one song with Mel. It's called Hallelujah and Mel had remembered Justin Timberlake performing it on Hope for Haiti. She started to play and I was amazed at how easily she can still play the piano. And B played the guitar and sang harmony. I looked over and Mom was on the couch rubbing the pain out of Tita Mila's shoulders while they watched. On thursday, Mel had her friend Justin come over and added his violin skills to the number. She recorded it for me and played it when I got home from work and it sounded amazing. "Yea he just improved." I am eager to see the entire number together, and also the rest of the numbers this week. People are bringing food and telling their families and we're already getting donations in the mail! It's crazy. I'm hoping my 2 aunts from the Philippines are able to get the VISA and get here to see it. I just need an outfit :)
