When I got home, this picture was up, taken by our director. We ran a fundraiser for AIDS DE. Anyone could buy a "brick" and have the name of a person they knew that had or has a terminal illness. The bricks were put together this weekend into a wall; a memorial to honor those loved ones. I put 2 names in.
The caption for this picture was, "why we do this." And I got goosebumps for the second time tonight. The first was at Stanley's. A bunch of us got together to celebrate Tina's birthday and I was sitting next to Mo. She told us how she went to see another production of RENT in NJ. She said how crazy the audience went during the entire show. Even at the opening announcements. And I got so excited to have an audience. The hairs on my arms stood straight up and I wanted to jump and scream. And then she told me how many people she knew that were coming on Thursday. And I held my breathe. "Thursday? THIS THURSDAY?? PREVIEW THURSDAY?!" "Yeah that's the only night they have off so they're all coming then." Great I thought. Just great. Fan-frickin'-tastic. All my hard work in persuading everyone I knew NOT to come on Opening weekend flew right out the window. And instead the theatre world will be there. So now I am sitting here in bed stressing and trying to get my thoughts together instead of sleeping.
Tomorrow is the first day of tech. I bought everything I needed and am physically ready for this week. Not so sure about mentally. My stomach's doing flip-flops. And I KNOW it's not the basket of kettle chips I just ate. Tomorrow we get to hear the band for the first time, we get to wear our mics for the first time, and we get to wear all our costumes. People will have headshots taken as well. Several people were at the theatre all day hanging lights, painting the set, etc. I originally was going to help out but I made myself take the day to do things on my own. So I picked up last-minute hair clips and accessories, went to the gym, visited B, and blew too much money on shopping.
Now, I'm here in bed obsessing about Preview and praying, praying, praying, all goes well. As of right now, I am not even close to being ready and I am dreading Thursday...
