"Acting is the most minor of gifts and not a very high-class way to earn a living. After all, Shirley Temple could do it at the age of four."

PREVIEW

I came into work today to find this on my desk from 2 coworkers. :) And then I signed onto our intranet and it says "Tonight is Opening of RENT. Break a leg Kristin!"

PHHHHHHHHHHEWWWWWWWW!

Preview is over! And it was great. My stomach did a great job. I had my ginger just incase but I wasn't as a mess as I usually am on openings. I got to the theatre before 6, put on all my make-up and hair before anyone else got there and then reviewed my songs and blocking by myself onstage. I didn't talk to anyone once people started coming for fear that I would vomit all over them.

And the audience was awesome. Cheering as soon as we walked on to the stage. It was crazy and my body was shaking. I was careful not to talk backstage fearing my mic may be on, and after I finished Without You, I was praising Jesus. B/c after that song, it's smooth sailin for the rest of the show.

I was the last to get my mic off and change and walk into the lobby to greet and thank everyone who came:

Kaylan
S Cro
Melissa
Kevin
Jody
Courtney
Danielle
Colleen
Dave

And it was so awesome to see them all and catch up. I love awesome people. And seeing my girl Steph was great. We never see each other anymore, but when we do, it's like the same as back when we were like 18. Nothing changes no matter how long we go without talking. We reminisced about how we used to sing "Light My Candle" in my basement and record ourselves. She always made me be Roger. :) B/c Mimi is her fave role of all time. But last night she said, " I officially pass on the Mimi role to you." :) I have to find that tape.

Kevin was there as well with his Mom and he looked so grown up. He went to NY and did the broadway thing and still came to see us in RENT. He's still the same Kevin and so enthusiastic and it just shows how some people stay so humble and sweet no matter what happens to them in life.

A few of us went out for a drink after, and normally, I wouldn't have but I'm so glad I did. It was just so nice to catch up with Kaylan and Melissa and Steph.

So now, my nerves are gone and we open tonight. Mel comes home tonight and I can't wait to see her! She's driving home just for this and that means so much to me.

Rehearsals are over and now It's ON. Like donkey kong. I am gonna take so many pictures.
